Quantinuum reports a tenfold improvement in error-corrected accuracy on Helios

Quantinuum says its Helios computer ran error-corrected operations with about 5 errors per million, ten times better than its own previous record. It's a company announcement, not yet checked by others.

QubitRank Desk ·

Quantinuum says it reached 99.9995% accuracy for error-corrected (logical) operations on its Helios computer, about 5 errors in every million, using an error-correction method called a colour code. It describes this as ten times better than its own previous record, and as support for its plan to build a fully fault-tolerant machine by 2029.

How far the evidence has got: this is a company announcement. We haven't seen a peer-reviewed paper or an independent repeat yet, so it doesn't count towards our rankings. If the result is published with its method, QubitBenchmark will grade it.

Why it matters: error-corrected operations are the building blocks of a reliable quantum computer. Error rates this low, if confirmed, would mean much longer calculations become possible before errors pile up.

Does this change the rankings? No. Rankings only change when QubitBenchmark publishes a checked result in its monthly data release.
